Life in a Nutshell: Ruby
Ruby is the only child of her parents, both of which lived in the Palace of Twilight. Her father was the royal advisor to the ruler of Twilight, and because of this, the job was to be handed to Ruby upon her parents death.
Because of this heavy responsibility that was bound to fall onto Rubys shoulders sooner or later, Rubys parents made sure she got the best education they could get her. She started education with other Twili children at five, but was home educated from the age of two.
Despite having everything she needed to be happy, Ruby still would find herself in tears. This was because from a young age, Ruby would see a disturbing image, consisting of a bleak landscape with dying people, all of which were permanently marching. This image would cloud Rubys thoughts, and make her very depressed. When at school, her classroom partner Adron would tell her to talk about it. So she did, and her parents convinced her to do the same at home.
Over time, the image slowly disappeared, and Ruby became a lot more cheerful. It was at this stage in her life when her mother decided to teach her fortune telling. Ruby grasped the idea fairly quickly but still found some parts of it challenging. Rubys mother decided to predict her fortune one day, only to get surprising results. Rubys mother told her she was in for a happy life, but what she had saw came as a huge shock. She told her husband, Ruby was going to see the deaths of her loved ones at a very young age. Ruby overheard.
Meanwhile, Rubys relationship with Adron developed a lot over the twelve years they knew each-other, and they both fell in love with each-other. When Ruby was 16 and Adron was 17, the two became engaged. Adron, as a royal guard, swore to protect his new fiancé with his life, and Ruby promised to help him in anyway she could.
Unfortunately, Rubys parents died, due to a freak accident which happened outside the palace. No-one is certain what happened but many people have ideas on how the two died. This sent Ruby into a huge amount of depression, but her fiancé Adron tried his best to help her through the difficult time. His presence made recovering a lot easier.
Soon after this, the Twilight Incident began. Adron told Ruby to hide in Hyrule until the war ended. She did this, and found safety with the Hylian royal advisor, Sayru. The two became fast friends, and hid together from the war on the outskirts of Lake Hylia. Once Ruby and Sayru noticed the Zoras had returned to the river, Ruby said farewell to Sayru, and promised to write to her.
Upon arriving home, Ruby discovered her fiancé Adron was killed. To Ruby, there was no point in living any more. She had no-one. But seeing no point in killing herself, she resumed her duty as royal advisor, and continued to live in the Palace. Thanks to a mysterious power she has connected with her visions, she had seen her parents once more, and was greeted by Adron. Adron told her to wait for him, for he will return.
She now waits, staying faithful to Adrons words. Ruby has learnt to enjoy life while she could, and has managed to cheer herself up, even without help from her parents or her fiancé. So she now lives happily in the Twilight Realm, committed to serving the Queen as her royal advisor, and committed to waiting for her love to return.
